The environment in Naboisho is dominated by Acacia woodlands, with small streams surrounded by Yellow-fever Acacia forests and interspersed by wide open short grass plains. It acts as a buffer zone for the Mara reserve, and it is particularly rich of wildlife during the wet season, when the grasslands in the Mara become too high and humid for the vast majority of small and medium herbivores. The population of Lions and Cheetahs here is good. Animals are generally more shy here and less habituated to vehicles than in the reserve. This is compensated by far less vehicles around sightings. We found two beautiful Lionesses and this beautiful troop of Baboons in the morning light.
We then met Elephant Voices founders and researchers Joyce Poole and her husband Petter Granli, we had a lovely game drive with them in search of Elephants but luck wasn’t on our side and we couldn’t find any.
