I spent most of the day at the crossings again, with very little activity going on. After a small group of zebras rushed across the river I headed back to the Talek River to check how the lions were doing. I found the whole pride, with six cubs, three males and four females. Only one female was missing. As soon as they spotted the first herds of wildebeests on the other side of the river they headed straight in that direction. They crossed the Talek and approached the wildebeests, four females stalking in the tall grass, two of the males behind, the cubs hidden in the grass. It all went the right way for the lions. One of the females busted out of cover and sent the running wildebeests to where another one was positioned. They singled out one of the wildebeests and the chase didn’t last more than a few seconds. As soon as the wildebeest was down the males rushed in, one of the lionesses called the cubs out of cover and they all ate with deep growls and violent reactions from the males whenever a cub would get too close. A fantastic action to watch, but very difficult to photograph due to the tall grass.
