In correspondence with the abundance of food generated by the rain there is usually a peak in mating activity among the Elephants. Bulls in musth (Elephant’s condition of high testosterone levels in males) are generally favoured by females in estrous. I spent long hours looking at the Elephants’ interactions. This particular bull is the dominant male at the moment, never challenged by any other. He is an amazing creature, with wonderful massive tusks, and in his prime. Here he is courting a female which he will later mate with.
