Yesterday I returned to the Mara after more than two months of absence with my new guests. On our way to camp we had to cross the Olare Orok River with very high water from the rains of Sunday night. The grass is extremely high throughout our game viewing area, with the exception of the Topi plains. Today we spent the best part of our day with the three Cheetah brothers, who were hungry and tried twice to make a kill. First time it was a Hartebeest, but it escaped easily. The second time the prey was a single Wildebeest wandering across the plains. They chased it and one of the Cheetahs reached it easily, tried to pull it down but the Wildebeest, a big male, kicked repeatedly and managed to escape.
