Along the banks of the Mara river some herds of Wildebeests had gathered to attempt a crossing. The water in the river is extremely high in this moment, and the current flows fast. These factors, and the Hippos in the water, delayed today’s crossing considerably. Around lunch time they finally started and it was a good crossing. Animals are still moving South to North into the northwestern Mara. More herds are concentrating between Lookout Hill and Keekorok Lodge. But the highlight of the day came later, as we were watching the three male Cheetahs get ready to hunt, a female Serval cat with two kittens showed up. The kittens were suckling when we found them in the tall grass. They then walked away. She disappeared in the bush and left the kittens behind to rest for the remaining of the day.
