First day on safari in the Mara after a couple of months of absence. A lot has happened in the Mara in this time, especially among Lions and Leopards. Today I started off searching for Olive and her cub, but was later called to a bend of the Ntiakintiaki river where a Leopard had killed a Crocodile and was eating it. It was nice to find out that it was Pacha, Olive’s son about 17 months old. He seems to have a liking for reptiles as in August he repeatedly killed Monitor Lizards. Sad news is that one of the two litters of leopard cubs, that belonging to the female know as Lorian, was killed probably by Hyenas. That’s life in the Mara, hard for young cubs, especially for cubs from mothers at their first litters.
