After hearing that the female Cheetah with six cubs had been seen yesterday, I decided to try my luck and find her. Many people call her Shingo, meaning “neck” in swahili. She is now residing in an area that has very few tracks and is away from our game viewing zone. It is in the heart of the area of the Mara where mass tourism operations bring hundreds of minivans. Though the landscape there is astonishing, it is not a very pleasant area to visit because crowds can be really bad at some sightings. It wasn’t difficult to find her, she was eating an Impala far from the track. It took me sometime to count all six cubs, but it was nice to confirm that they are all there, healthy and fantastic to watch. They finished eating only in the late afternoon, in a perfect light.
