Today I left Amboseli heading to Tsavo West. Even here the rains have started in the last week. The vegetation is still very lush and green from the heavy rains of last year, so sightings of animals are really difficult. Even Elephants disappear as soon as they cross the road and enter the bush. As usual, Tsavo West is a heaven for birds, especially in this season. The weavers are all active building their nests, the whydahs are displaying their most colorful breeding plumage. This is a Straw-tailed Whydah, singing on top of a branch to attract females.
