The sky was cloudy this morning on the Mara. We got out of camp and found a Black Rhino just outside, walking in the long grass. We then found Olive and Bahati with a fresh Wildebeest kill in a gulley. Olive brought it out of the mud and laid it in the thicket for her and her cub to feed. Later in the morning we had a nice crossing of Wildebeests on the Talek river, and in the afternoon some very interesting Lion action, again along the Talek. The Ol Kiombo males seem to have definitely abandoned the area. This opened up the space for other coalitions of males. We found a coalition of 3 three-year old males eating a Wildebeest with a female, and along the banks of the river, three more young males, about two years-old. The older ones were clearly trying to keep this other coalition away, and as one of the young ones approached, he got caught in a fight and chased back across the river.
