We are getting really heavy rains in the afternoons here in Mara, but the mornings are nice and clear. We started today from the two Lionesses with their newborn cubs. Soon after sunrise the mother of the oldest cubs called them out of the den, where they were nursing with the other female and the younger cubs, and played with them for a while. She then decided to move them to a new den. Surprisingly only two cubs moved with her. I am not sure where the other one is. Meanwhile the other female continued nursing her two tiny cubs. Over at the marsh, the males were finishing off a Wildebeest, and the females came out of the forest, where they had probably been feeding during the night. It was again surprising to see Siena, the mother of the two small cubs which we saw a few days ago, walking with only one cub to her side. Hopefully the other one is hiding somewhere. In the afternoon, in the torrential rain, we found Olive and Bahati with a kill on the banks of the Talek river.
