For some reason last night must have been particularly conducive for hunting, as we found so many kills scattered throughout the north-western Mara. Out on Topi plains at first light we found many Hyenas heading to a kill where a young male Lion was feeding on. Another male was nearby, digging around a hole, and soon after three Warthogs exploded out of the den, but the Lion couldn’t catch any of them. About twenty Hyenas surrounded the Lion until he was full and left. Further on we found the Lioness Joy of the Marsh pride, with her four cubs and the adopted cub from her sister Siena. It’s been several days now that the smaller cub is hanging around with Joy and her litter, and it seems to get along well with his cousins. Also down on the Paradise plains there were a number of kills where Lions, Hyenas, Jackals and Vultures were feeding on. In the afternoon, after a midday storm, the young male Leopard Ngayoni walked out in the open and rested on a tree.
