A wonderful day which started with a sighting of Olive on the Smelly crossing. We proceeded on and with great joy we established contact again with the shy Caracal female and her two cubs. These are smaller than the ones from the other more confident female, I reckon at least a month or two of difference. The birds’ alarm calls told us where the cubs were. Mum came from the gulley shortly after and amazingly, in front of our eyes, she laid down and nursed her cubs. It is an extremely rarely observed behavior, as these animals are normally very shy, nocturnal and secretive. But this all happened before us, and she was really relaxed, also because once again we were completely alone watching this intimate moment. They went to bed after that, as the day got warm. In the afternoon, searching for them we came across a huge Rock Python, about four meters long, who crossed an open plain and entered a pond of water.
