After leaving the Mara at the end of October I went to Zanzibar Island, Tanzania, for some rest. But of course I couldn’t resist going to photograph an extremely endangered species of monkey which is endemic to the island, the Zanzibar Red Colobus. About 2,350 Colobuses inhabit the Jozani forest, in the south of the island. Though a National Park, human pressure on the forest is very strong, as the island is very densely populated. Finding the Colobuses is relatively easy, and it is really an extraordinary experience to watch them play, feed, jump from branch to branch and on the ground.
