Federico Veronesi’s image of two fighting Buffalos (Syncerus Caffer) taken at Lake Nakuru NP, Kenya, won the Grand Prize at the Windland Smith Rice International Award, organized by the nature magazine ” Nature’s Best ” in collaboration with the Smithsonian Natural History Museum of Washington DC, USA. It is one of the most popular wildlife photography competitions, with about 30,000 participating images. In addition, two more images have been “Highly Honoured” in the African Wildlife category. One is of a family of Lions (Panthera Leo) taken in February 2009 in Masai Mara NR. The other is of Lesser Flamingos (Phoenicopterus Minor) in the mist at sunrise, taken at Lake Nakuru NP in September 2010.
