Today I remained on the south side of the Talek river. I drove extensively looking for Lions before I was informed that a Leopard had been seen. I went there and it was nice to see the lovely Bahati, Olive’s nineteen months old daughter, resting inside a bush, almost impossible to see. After a while she came out, walked through the long grass up to another patch of bushes. There she tried to ambush a Dik-dik but it got away. I spent the rest of the day with the four big male Lions sleeping in the middle of the plains. It is really difficult to spot animals, partly due to the tall grass and thick vegetation, but also because many Cheetahs and Lions have gone out of the park in search for food, in areas where grass is shorter and concentration of prey is higher. In return, we get big groups of Elephants, which is always nice to see.
