A wonderful day, despite the weather and the awful light. We are getting clouds at sunrise and sunset, and full sun at midday, exactly the opposite of what a photographer wants! Anyway, the Cheetah with four cubs which I had seen early in the month is still doing very well. The cubs are healthy and playful, and we had some amazing time with them. In the afternoon, after searching for the Leopard Olive and her cub just behind our camp, we headed to where another family of Leopards is frequently seen these days. There were two kills on two different trees. As the weather got cooler in the afternoon, a young male Leopard appeared on some rocks inside the bushes. He is around 10-12 months old. He laid comfortably until his mother appeared from the bush. It was beautiful to see a new female Leopard. She laid next to her son after licking him repeatedly. Later they played a little and moved on into the bushes, heading to one of the two kills. Meanwhile, the Wildebeests’ migration is moving deeper into the Mara on the eastern side, as more animals are crossing the Sand River.
