Today we woke up to a cloudy sky and crossed the Talek river heading east. Surprisingly we found two of the “4 kilometers” male Lions, usually residing along the Mara river west of the Talek. Are they trying to expand their domain, following the same pattern and route that Notch and his sons followed a couple of years ago? Or was it only a casual visit? They reinforced their bond just a few meters from us, laying down very close together and rubbing their heads repeatedly. They are magnificent males in their prime. On we proceeded when they went to bed under a bush, and it was nice to see two Cheetahs families in a very short distance: Malaika and her cub, and the female who had four cubs in June, now only with three left. Both families seemed healthy and well fed, despite the enormous stretches of long grass plains with no animals in sight in the area.
