On this safari we’ll spend two weeks immersed in Namibia’s wonderful desert sceneries, looking for wildlife that through thousands of years of evolution has adapted to survive in these extremely arid areas.
The combination of magnificent animals in dramatic harsh settings is unique and will provide us with many photographic opportunities. We’ll start heading north into the true arid wilderness of the Kaokoveld region. Here we will search for desert adapted Elephants, Giraffes, Black Rhinos and Lions. We will look for the most dramatic angles to convey the harshness and the resilience of the wildlife that inhabits these remote regions. Cheetahs, Leopards, Brown Hyenas, Caracals are also present, though rare to find.
After driving through Swakopmund, on the Atlantic Ocean, we’ll head south to the majestic dunes of Sossusvlei, in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Here we’ll try to photograph wildlife such as Oryx, Ostriches and Springboks as they look for the little food available on the dunes. We’ll also photograph the beautiful Deadvlei with its dead trees rising from the desert.
This safari will be for six people on two vehicles or maximum eight people on two vehicles if there are couples/travelling partners willing to share a row of seats. A minimum of five (5) people is required for the safari to take place.
In Sossusvlei we will sleep in a comfortable lodge inside the gates of the Namib/Naukfluft NP, enabling us to be at Deadvlei or at the dunes before sunrise. In the Kaokoland we will sleep in four different locations, of which one is in a lodge and the other three in a mobile tented camp. We’ll have a full back-up team that will put the camp up and down for us, and an excellent chef for our meals under the stars. This solution will enable us to sleep right where the animals are, in remote places where no permanent establishments exist.
Federico Veronesi will be your accompanying professional photographer. Our local partners for this trip have an extraordinary knowledge and experience in the remotest areas of Namibia and excellent guides.
