Today we started our day right in the middle of the Burrungat plains. Out there the night before the four dominant male Lions known as Notch’s boys, from the name of their late father, had killed an adult Hippo. During the wet season here in the Mara it has become quite a common occurrance. They generally kill a Hippo per week. It is a great feast for all the Lions of the area, and for the Hyenas, Jackals and Vultures too. We spent some time with them at sunrise. These four Lions are just magnificent and it is fantastic to spend time with them, although they can be quite lazy at times during the day! Later in the day we found a beautiful Serval cat, resting under a bush.
